…MARGARITAS!

But I will get back to that.  Jess and myself are having a pretty low key/cheap weekend.  Saturday (4/2) we will be doing some shopping for another short Jess is working on and then Sunday we will be throwing an Easter brunch for our LA Family a.k.a. our friends.  And Monday we begin our first LA Queen Pin shoot for a webisode that will begin in the near future!  And tonight involves Margaritas and Mexican food.  Mel can’t even wait!  Oh, what is that you say?  You want a Margarita tonight as well?  Click and watch this informative video on how to make yourself an amazing alcoholic beverage!

LA Weekend Happenings – 3/5/10

Starting off our weekly entertainment guide on things happening in LA this weekend. So here’s the lowdown for the week of March 1, 2010.

First let’s start off with the box office. What can we expect from the big screen this weekend?

Three simple words here people – Alice In Wonderland. Many people have been waiting for this film to come out since they first saw the leaked pictures on the interwebz 8 months ago. Finally it’s here. We have tickets to see it in 3DIMAX on Saturday so a review will be coming shortly after. QueenPin’s prediction, as well as many others, is that this is going to trump the box office this weekend.

Also coming out this weekend is Brooklyn’s Finest starring Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes. It seems to be your standard cop drama, and the girls may wait to catch this when it’s out of theaters.

Another big deal this weekend, especially in Los Angeles, is the 82nd Academy Awards. Yes, of course it’s a big shebang that costs a lot of money to put on, but it’s fun to think that the red carpet is rolled out just 15 minutes away from your apartment.  With the Best Picture format a little different than years past, 10 nominees instead of the normal 5, it may change things up a bit. We’ll just have to watch and see how that plays out this Sunday, March 7. All the QueenPins will be watching and taking notes so be on the lookout for a review sometime early next week. They air at 8pm for us in the PST. But check your local listings to see who’s wearing who and who wins the golden statue!

If you want more of a social setting to view the Oscars in – you can check out this free Oscar Party. It’s being held at the famous ‘Air Conditioned Supper Club’ out in Venice. It’s fancy dress (it is the Oscars after all!). Mingle while watching the Awards and then stick around after to talk about them! Feel free to bring a guest but you MUST RSVP. You can do so here: RSVP@FuelMusicandSound.com. And check out: http://www.ifuelmusic.com/

The Air Conditioned Supper Club
625 Lincoln Blvd – Venice, CA

A side note for readers in LA: Watch out for street closures and block-offs around the Hollywood area and Kodak Theater. If you’re heading that way looking for alternate routes is a must since all of Sunday you won’t be able to access anywhere via Highland.

If you’re looking for something to do on Saturday night and love mash-ups and dancing by all means check out BootieLA. LA’s monthly mash-up dance party. This month guest DJ Morgoth from Berlin will be rocking the stage at the Echoplex. Entry is $5 before 10pm and $10 after 10pm. Two bars with decently priced drinks are also at your disposal. As well as a midnight dance show by none other than R.A.I.D.  If you’re lucky you may even get your picture snapped and make it up on DrunkRockers.com! You can get your dance on from 9pm-2am.

Be safe out there this weekend and have fun!!

Love,

The LA QueenPins
