First off HAPPY 2011! Hope everyone had a wonderful one and made it back to wherever it is they went.
I embarked on the first leg of my MidWestAdventure2010 Trip on the evening of December 19th, 2010. As if the holidays aren’t stressful enough throw in holiday travel and your blood pressure meter will explode. However, other than the common delay I have never had a stressful trip. This year I was taking many modes of transportation to make the yearly Christmas/New Year’s trip.
The first of these modes was by plane. I was booked on a Southwest flight at 7pm on Sunday night. Granted the beginning of Christmas week, but I was still not very nervous about this situation. This also marked the first time I was checking a bag. Yes, you heard right. The very first time I was EVER checking a bag on an airplane. So, Andrew dropped me at LAX at 5:45 pm. Plenty of time, right? I checked my bag and was through security by 6:00pm. No joke. LAX knows their stuff, they get you in and out. I’ve flown on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and have never encountered any issues with LAX or whatever flight I am on. I find out I’m at Gate 1 – how perfect! So I walk on down the ramp…
…And realize the flight is delayed by 30 minutes. This is a common occurrence for me at LAX. I always take it with a grain of salt though. I mean it is LA afterall, right? I made use of my time by reading and listening to music and eventually it was time to board. Southwest is one of my favorite airlines to fly. They give snacks! No not just peanuts – SNACKS! And good ones too. You know, 100 calories packs. They also refill drinks and are just generally very nice people to fly with. Plus if you ever, EVER have an issue – just call them and chances are they’ll give you a credit towards another flight. The flight itself was smooth and I ended up falling asleep for most of the ride.
Both Southwest and LAX are very accomidating and this first leg of my trip went swimmingly!
Stay tuned for more reviews of transit reviews!
