Guns and Meatloaf, A Little Midwest In LA

This weekend, I did something I never even did when I lived in the Midwest.  SHOT GUNS!  REAL guns!  At a REAL gun range!  AHHHHHH!  The only other range I had ever been to was a golfing range, and they are a smidge different.

Myself and a few friends went to the LA Gun Club to do a little research for a short film they are going to begin working on. I have to admit, it was TERRIFYING. We found ourselves in a room full of strangers, each one of them holding a gun and at any moment could go crazy and shoot you or shoot themselves.  Ok, maybe it’s not that bad.  But it was still pretty insane.  Standing there (in my dress, by the way) holding this life ender in my hand.  But I do have to say it was exhiliarting and got my adrenalline pumping.  If you need to get some agression out and want to be La Femme Nikkita for an hour, I think you should make a trip down to the LA Gun Club.  Great for parties!  Tee hee ;-)

*NOTE: Brittany does not support gun violence or guns used out of a controlled and safe environment.

The Tools

We're doing it! Yes... I'm short. Thank you for noticing.

Did it! Got that slutty zombie in the hair a few times.

After shooting guns, your tummy is in need for some yummy grub. After Jess’ post last week about HOME, Bryan and I had to go. What a quaint little spot on Hillhurst in Los Feliz! We sat outside, enjoyed the weather, and thoroughly enjoyed our HOME cooked meal.  See what I did there?!

MEATLOAF. PHENOMENAL.

Bryan and I also tried out a new bar AND a new restaurant this weekend, so stay tuned for a post about those as well!

Craving a Little Piece of Home

This past weekend I made it out to two fabulous places to eat in LA. One of which I’ve had my eye on since I moved to LA and the other I just happened to stumble upon and fell head over heels with.

HOME

I’ve had my sights set on HOME for a very long time. I had probably eaten at every surrounding restaurant of either of the locations and still had not been. So, while frantically trying to find a place to entertain out of town guests that Andy had in town this weekend we were approaching the Los Feliz Hillhurst strip and I suggested HOME. Hook, line, and sinker. We were done.

It’s an adorable little place to eat. The outside atmosphere was probably my favorite part about the whole experience. Although, the food was pretty excellent as well. Andy and I split a Vegetarian pizza while everyone else partook in french toast (because yes, they serve delicious breakfast even at 9pm on Saturday night). It was a great way to catch up and not be caught up in a noisy restaurant yelling at one another, hoping they hear you.

I apologize for the lack of pictures (and quality!) It was dark and my old gen iPhone was tired.

Delish Veggie Pizza!

Crave Cafe

The second place we ate at this weekend was something that came about very randomly. After picking up something in Sherman Oaks on Sunday after church, Andy and I found ourselves ravenous for grub. I used my trusty Google Places app to find a cafe nearby to grab something. We happened upon Crave Cafe on the corner of Van Nuys and Ventura…you know on the cool strip of Ventura and every part of our being was satisfied. I fell in love with this little place. It was pretty crowded but that was understandable for the good eats. It’s one of the ‘you order and they bring your food out to you’ places. Yet another place you can sit outside and eat…because how else do you eat in SoCal? Despite it being 1:30 in the afternoon we opted for items off the breakfast menu and our stomachs thanked us.

Did I mention they had GIANT and DELICIOUS Red Velvet cupcakes? We had to indulge!

Half of his plate was omlette. Yup.

Strawberries. French Toast. Bliss.

Certified Delicious!
