Granville Cafe

I had been to Granville Cafe once before for dinner and I vaguely remember eating a bowl of gourmet mac and cheese. For some reason I never had to urge to go back. Until recently when that boy I like and I were on the hunt for a good lunchtime meal. We were nearing the Burbank/Glendale border when I remembered there was a Granville in Burbank and it seemed to fit our tastes better than the Chinese place he wanted to go to.

Granville’s lunch service is quick serve. Which means you order, they give you a number, and you go and find a seat while they prepare your food. It’s not your usual sit down meal like their dinner service is. I enjoyed this environment though. Sure, it was busy but it was smack dab in the middle of a lunch service. We found a seat in no time.

I ordered the Caprese sandwich. I have this insane love for a sandwich that can be so simple and taste so wonderful. Andrew got the chicken penne bowl that was topped with a really amazing goat cheese. They have a pretty extensive menu for both dinner and lunch so check em out!

Moore’s Delicatessen

Moore’s Delicatessen
271 E Orange Grove Ave
Burbank, CA 91502
(818) 478-1251

Located right in the heart of downtown Burbank and accross the street from Cartoon Network, Moore’s Delicatessen is a must if you’re in the Valley area for breakfast or lunch.

Mr. Bry Guy and I finally waltzed into this place for a power breakfast.  Luckily it wasn’t crowded.  I hear lunchtimes at Moore’s can get pretty crazy.  Super friendly staff, wonderful cup of iced coffee, and great food with HUGE portions.

Big Coffee and Lucky 45

Egg Sandwich

Egg Sandwich and extra large order of Cottage Cheese

FYI, This is a breakfast and lunch spot only.  Monday – Saturday they are open from 7am – 5pm and Sundays from 8 am – 3pm.  BUT Mondays are an exception:  Moore’s is a huge supporter of their neighbor, Cartoon Network, and have screenings of their Monday night line-up!  Great for mingling with other fans and who knows, maybe some of the animators/creators may show up.

Awesome spot for meeting folks for coffee or a breakfast/lunch date. Enjoy!

Britt

An Evening of Laughs with Tom Green

I can safely say that I was “raised” on Tom Green. My brother and I thought this man was the best thing to happen to us in the MTV days. But then again, we did watch Dumb and Dumber pretty consistently. We’d constantly watch his silly cable access show and laugh till we cried at the antics he did. I even remember taking a video camera into the posher parts of a neighboring town with my friends at the time and forcing people to do nonsense things for us. Let us not forget the Bum Bum Song or his hit feature release, Freddy Got Fingered. To many of us, Tom Green is a comical genius.

Well, a few months ago I babysat for a friend and refused monetary payment from her so she gave me two free tickets to Flappers. This comedy place in Burbank that just seemed to pop up from nowhere. Days went by until recently Andy’s roommate told him Tom Green was going to be at the comedy club in Burbank. Andy hastily exchanged our free tickets for two tickets to see Tom Green Live. To say we were pumped would be an understatement.

His show was amazing. Though I can’t remember a good number of the jokes I do remember laughing deep belly laughs the whole time. He played about an hour set and didn’t mention the Bum Bum Song or FGF until the very end. He even took a heartfelt moment at the end to talk a little about his testicular cancer…which then turned into him telling the audience how his singular ball hangs now.

I’d recommend seeing him live if given the chance. To be honest, I was pretty skeptical though I reasoned in my head that even if it was bad it was still going to be pretty good. And it was.

After the show we snagged a picture with him and I feel like we were being “those people”. We were so giddy and nerdy and didn’t really want to bother him. Were we starstruck by Tom Green? I don’t know if I’d go that far but we geeked out.

I’d also like to tell you to go to Flappers sometime even if it’s not for Tom Green. The atmopshere is great. They have a pretty big drink and food menu. They also have a restaurant next door if you just want to pop in for some grub sometime.
