Our good friend (and an AMAZING writer! Check out her blog HERE ) Caroline has told us for quite some time about these “Secret Stairways” that you can hike and are hidden all over this city. The stairways were built way back in the day as basically a form of “transportation” from one place to another before cars took over the world. (You can read all about the history of the staircases HERE ). We looked through the book “Secret Stairs” by Charles Fleming and decided on a pretty intense route through Echo Park. The great thing about the stair hikes isn’t just the workout, but the beautiful views, city architecture, and street art you get to enjoy while getting a good workout in. While hiking, it also kind of felt like we were transported to a different time. The hikes were so peaceful and through such wonderful neighborhoods that it made you completely forget about all the hustle and bustle going on around us. This particular hike hardly even had anyone around or cars passing.
After the vigorous hike, we decided to reward ourselves with a sweet treat (NO! NO CUPCAKES!) of iced coffee’s, teas, and cherry lemonades from the cute and quant Delilah’s Bakery.
