This past week I went to the Arboretum up in Arcadia because well they were having their monthly free day! A friend of mine and I were trying to plan a free day visit to the Arboretum for the past couple months and every time the free day rolled around we’d either just miss it or work would come up. But this month it finally happened!
If you don’t know what The Arboretum is or even know there was one in L.A. it’s a kind of nature walk botanical gardens type thing. Much like other parts of L.A. there’s beauty hidden in the weirdest parts of the city. Most times you don’t even know it’s there and The Arboretum falls into that category.
The Arboretum is gigantic. Seriously. I did not think it was going to be nearly as big as it was. So big we didn’t even make it around the whole place before it was time to leave. Which just means we have to go next month on the free day to finish it.
It was a really cool place to walk around. Paths everywhere to look at all the different kinds of plants and trees. There was a lake, an adobe house, AND an old barn. Get this, we didn’t even find the waterfall but there’s one there! Tons of movies have been shot in and around the grounds of the Arboretum. Movies and TV you would never think of like Meet the Fockers and Murder She Wrote. (I’m publicly admitting I like Murder She Wrote it’s fine I’m not ashamed). Not only are there peacocks walking around but we found an eagle up in a tree that was just sitting there staring us down as we walked by. Plan out a visit for next month’s free day – they have them on the third Tuesday every month!

It is beautiful. This is a place we need to see the next time we come to visit.
