March. National Peanut Month.

Hold the phone.  Sound the alarms.  IT’S NATIONAL PEANUT MONTH! And we only have 2 more days to celebrate!!! Grab a friend, love, foe, pet, neighbor, whatever, grab someone and celebrate.  Or I guess this is a time when you can realize you don’t need anyone and you can simply celebrate alone.  Fine.

Regardless.  Bust out the peanut products! Peanut Butter.  Peanuts.  Umm… well, thats all I know that contains peanuts.  So yea.

Toasted Oven decided to celebrate this glorious month by whipping up some Peanut Butter and Jelly cookies with a twist; rolled in potato chips! (what the what!?!??!?!) And of course, a TO is not complete unless there is a cocktail…. Raspberry Bellini’s because, well, why not!?

(WARNING* if you have a peanut allergy, do NOT partake in this Toasted Oven recipe)

Feel Better Fast- with Toasted Oven

Yay it’s finally feeling like spring!  No more chilly mornings, no more blasted space heaters just to fall asleep.  SPRING!

But as many of you know, with drastic weather change comes health change.  Some sort of chest cold/flu-like thing has been going around.  YUCK!  So Ketry and I decided to whip up a little Feel Better Fast food and drink, hot toddy’s (toddies?!) and banana choc. chip. pancakes, because who doesn’t like pancakes?!

***These things will not cure what ever you are fighting…they simply make you feel happy***

So cozy up on the couch, grab your favorite blanket, and take the thermometer outta your mouth, without further ado, Toasted Oven.

xo,

Something outrageous happened!

is it reeeaaddddyyyy?

Let’s get Green and Toasted {Oven}

Top of dee mornin’ to ya!

Yea, I too agree that it is a bit silly to be sounding “Irish” as a mexican, but I love holidays and find myself constantly excited for them.  Regardless if they have ANYTHING to do with me.

With that being said, this week’s Toasted Oven is all about St. Patrick’s Day.  But first, do you actually know who or what St. Patrick Day is?  Well.. a quick little wikipedia history lesson for you begins in 3,2,1…Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

Woah! How interesting! That’s crazy that sooooo many people celebrate this guy! People are awesome!!

So grab a green beer, some corn beef and hash, and watch as Ketry and I celebrate St. Patrick.

xo & 4-leaf clovers,

mel

Did I end up stabbing her?

Friends.

Snack.

Angeles Crest Scenic Drive

Looking to take a long drive and get out of the city for a little bit and smell some fresh air?
Looking to spend some QT with your signifiant other?
Need to brush up on your nature photog skills?
Want to find some SNOW in the MOUNTAINS?!?!?!
Surprisingly, these things aren’t as far away as you may think they are. Just pack yourself a lunch, hop in the car, crank some tunes and go for a drive up the 2.
Last weekend, Andy and I were in desperate need of some quality time together so we did all of the above things and drove up the 2 for a long time. We lost cell reception and were left with nothing but gorgeous mountains and our echos. As we continued driving up through the mountains and the temperature dropped 20 degrees we found a foot of snow over everything and a perfect backdrop for a picnic.
This link shows a map of the route and gives a tiny bit more information.
Writing doesn’t seem to do it justice so here are a few pictures (which also don’t do much justice for the real thing).
Mountain Man
 Cheesin’
Flip Flops in Snow (the title of my memoir about living in SoCal? Maybe…)
 Is it a bird??
Mountains so pretty you don’t even need to Instagram them!
You can even come back with souvenirs the size of your baby doll! Wha?
Xoxo,

Treat Yo’ Self…Toasted Oven style

Do this for him, she would like you to do this for her, blah blah blah! Sometimes we need to do stuff for ourselves! We need to treat ourselves! And not just to the finer things in life like fur, diamonds, and riches.  But simple things…. like drinks and desserts.

This week’s Toasted Oven we created Rice Crispy TREAT YO SELVES with Girl Scout crumbles (admit it, you have a ton of boxes at home) and MY TIMES (mai tai’s)

So take a little time for yourself this weekend and watch as we do the same!

mel

YUM!

we are just PRECIOUS!

WOAH on the pouring!

When I Grow Up, I Want to be a Disney Princess

My first Disney experience was not the best. I had to be around 3 or 4 years old when my parents first took me to Disneyworld in Florida. I was terrified of EVERYTHING. Haunted Mansion? Nightmares. Snow White? Holy moly. Space Mountain? It’s a roller coaster in the dark? HECK NO, I’M NOT RIDING THAT. Captain Nemo? IS THAT AN OCTOPUS EYE LOOKING AT ME?! WE ARE GOING TO DIE IN THIS WATER TANK!!!!

Not to mention half the rides we rode didn’t really work.

Splash Mountain broke down and we had to be escorted off of it. On Dumbo, my elephant wouldn’t go up! Guess my feather was a failure… Pirates of the Caribbean broke down and this is where I lost my cool and started freaking out. My mother said “Brittany, the pirates aren’t going to eat you!” Then a few years later this classic line was delivered by Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park. I’m still sure that the screenwriter was on the boat with my family that day and stole that line from my mother…

My first Disney experience. I didn't want to leave Chip or Dale. And why yes, I DO have a sweet mullet

My boyfriend and I ventured out to Disney yesterday. His roommate is an avid Disney fan and told him to go in March on a Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid crowds. Boy, did we! The longest we waited in a line was probably 30 minutes and that was for Peter Pan. We pretty much got to do every ride we wanted, too! It was so fun! I have to say, I probably appreciate it a little more since I’m a huge child at heart. But again, some of the rides are spooky! No wonder I was so scared as a kid…

By the way, there were so many chubby cheek cuties there yesterday! I wanted to pinch all their faces. Have I turned into a Grandmother?

Bry and I are the two eyeballs towards the back...

I LOVED Nemo because I love anything that has to do with the ocean. Even though this was fake ocean.

A boy and the "sea"

Dumbo Flying Elephants! And our elephant worked this time!

Tea Pots go FAST

SO.MANY.STROLLERS.

It IS a small world after all!

Disney is quite magical. It transports you to a place where you don’t worry or care about anything. Go and forget what’s going on in your life. That’s what a fairy tale is all about, right?

24 Hours of Cupcakes

Unless you have been living under a rock the past week, I’m sure you know all about the magical Sprinkles Cupcakes ATM which is open 24/7.  I just found this video online and had to share since it’s the first time I’ve actually seen the ATM in action.

NOW I WANT A CUPCAKE WITH A SHAMROCK ON IT.

This seems like pure perfection.  Now if only there was one in the Valley… Sprinkles, can we get on that?

Britt

A New York State of Mind

This morning I woke up from a dream about New York City.  I can’t remember exactly what the dream was about, but I was there.

A few summers ago, Mel and I traveled to NYC to visit one of our AWESOME friends.  We spent a few days there which consisted of: hardly any sleep, eating delicious food, walking all over the city, visiting a film set, meeting Rob Pattinson, staying at bars that were open almost 24 hours, parks, cab rides, Mel using her wit and sassyness to get us into restaurants, and oh yeah, missing our flight home.

It was one of the BEST trips of my life and I’m sad that the memories from it are starting to fade… Mel, shall we plan a trip back for this summer?  ADVENTURE TIME.

Hipsters

ROOF ACCESS

Mel and I missed our flight back to LA shortly after this...

Check out my old Blackberry! And Mel's legs...

LA, you’re ok too. I hope I’m not hurting your feelings. But yeah, I need to get out of you for a couple days… And stand on the roof of a building and see another NYC sunrise…

LUV,
Britt
