It’s nearly summer in L.A. and that means I get my hiking bug. Screw cooler days and less sun I always want to hike when it’s hot out. Or something like that. It’s actually just that I need to start expanding my work out options.
The Brand Library Park, which I think we mentioned on here before, is a great park to not only spend the day bumming in the sun but apparently to hike in! A group of boys we know and love to pieces live right below the Library and have been talking about the hiking paths around there. I was feeling a hike but didn’t want to deal with the parking situation at Runyon or trek all the way out Malibu Creek so I demanded our friend Caroline to come along and we decided to try the hike. She had apparently hiked the path with her boyfriend (one of those boys we know and love) before so she was a seasoned pro. I always like hiking with a girlfriend more than a boyfriend. It’s not that I hate spending time getting some quality time with my boyfriend while getting a workout. I just need to take frequent breaks especially if it’s a 90 degree uphill we’re trekking. So this hike was perfect for two gals to spend the morning hiking.
I’d rate the hike itself as moderately hard. The path we took on the way up was a bit tough at times. There are some pretty steep inclines that require a little bit of tricky leg work to get up. The path we took down, however, was a breeze and a nice cool down from the uphill battle. We also only made it halfway up to the first stopping point. We’ll get to the tip top one of these days. The paths were also relatively untraveled so that was nice for our girl talks.
Try it out this weekend?
What a gorgeous smog filled L.A. day!
Caroline and I cheesin’ it up on top of a mountain!
