Hollywood Forever Cemetery season is here!

I’ve waited all winter for the moment where my closest deceased ghouls and goblins and myself can rendezvous once again at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Tomorrow night one of my favorite bands, Explosions in the Sky, are performing, and you best believe I will be there spread out and ready to enjoy my first night of this fantastic season.

I love being able to grab a bunch of my closest friends, pack up a picnic basket with goodies, and head out to the cemetery for movies, concerts and many, many laughs.  This season I am sure to be prepared and not get lost in all the hustle and bustle.  So I have brought it upon myself to create a little checklist I plan on using throughout the summer.

Perfect sized picnic basket to store all your goodies in

Yummy dried fruit and nuts

A delicious spread of cheese and crackers

comfy beautiful pillows to spread out

A fun bright alternative to a red plaid blanket

and most importantly…….

Vino

Here is to a fantastic season at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Cheers!  See ya there!

I remember when….

I remember when I first came to LA.

I remember when I first packed up my little ’96 silver Honda Civic and made the trek to the west coast.  I remember when I first walked into my apartment, with my then boyfriend, and saw my “bed” that Brandon and Arthur had set up for me.  I remember thinking, there is NO way I am sleeping on a blow up beer pong table.

I remember shedding my first tear in LA.  I remember thinking, I’m never going to make it.

I remember going out and buying my first dress in LA, for my first interview in LA.  I remember being crushed when they said we’re looking for someone with more experience, I’m sorry.

I remember when I called my mom crying telling her that my E! interview ended before it began.  I remember hearing my mom cry saying she hated when I cried.

And now, all this is replaying in my head as I sit here and listen to my neighbors* tell me their future I remember when… stories.  How they held their tears back today.  How they are scared and nervous and how they ’want it so bad, if they only gave me the chance’.

I sit and listen.  I tell them, that place wasn’t meant for you, the right job your job is still out there for you, they are dumb to not have you work for them.  I tell themit sucks, I know.

But we all need these moments.  We need them so we have our own I remember when stories.  We need them to realize how lucky we are to have such an amazing support system and how we continue to inspire each other everyday.

We need them so when we each have our  own True Hollywood Story air, they have something more than just  all of our great accomplishments.  We need them so we can all gather around in our lavish homes and cheers with bottles of champagne, and laugh until we cry about the time when we first got here and cried.

“Prom” is THIS Weekend!

Good day, dear friends.  As I have said before on this blog, the first feature I ever got the pleasure of working on comes out this weekend (TOMMOROW!  Friday, April 29th!).  It’s called Prom.  I will give you at least three guesses on what it is about ;-)  But really, I’m so excited for this movie and it was such a joy and blessing to work on.  The crew was absolutely AMAZING and so was the cast.  So go with your girlfriends, kids, or significant other and enjoy a fun loving movie that will transplant you back to a day of fluffy colorful dresses, corny pictures, gyms decked in fancy decor, and great friends ;-)

A House in the Hills: The Perks of Housesitting

I know you all missed me…or maybe you didn’t. Either way I’m back.

A week out of this month I spent house/dog sitting for a wonderful couple I met through a friend I used to work with. They were incredibly accommodating to me while I stayed there. They stocked their fridge for me, opened their liquor cabinet to me, let me sleep in their giant bed and shower in their ridiculous shower. Not to mention, I spent a good chunk of the week laying out by their enormous pool sunbathing.

Housesitting is a great way to make extra money while you’re down from work. I don’t have much to say about it except that I got to hang out at a fancy house and invite my friends up there for my birthday and get a tan while I was at it.

Here’s some random pictures of the house.

 A drink at sunset…

One of my new pals!

Mexi themed birthday dinner prepared by Andrew! Eaten poolside of course…

Phew…

The kitchen of my dreams…You should have seen what I baked while there! Invite your friends up to have a poolside evening dance party!

Much better than most episodes of the Hills.Did I mention there was vintage pinball machines?

Catch ya later,

Give me some of that sicky icky… Actually, no. Keep it.

Well, it was only time till I got sick.  With work, producing side projects, dating, and having a social life and keeping my friends, it was bound to happen.

I am the worst person to get sick.  I act like a baby, I cry, I want need people to be at my beck and call.  I turn into a coughing, sneezing, achy body DIVA.  Sometimes its cute, sometimes its sweet, this time? I’m disgusting!  No one wants to come to the aid of a phlegmy, coughing, puking (luckily no longer) girl.  So, I’m stuck at home clearing out my DVR and loading up on meds.

Like the backwards words on my meds, my head feels backwards too.

I guess it could be worse?  I could be suffering from Japanese B Encephalitis or the hantavirus. ?!?! I had that same look on my face  that I am sure you do now when my friend brought these two up.

Point  being, being sick sucks.

Stay healthy (no X’s or O’s I’m sick remember!?),

Making Myself Memorable

This morning I had the task of taking important documents to an important executive at an important studio.  After a 10 minute wait at the security gate because they needed to make sure I really was who my I.D. said I was, I finally made it through the pearly gates.  Or more silver gates rather.  I found the building, I got on the elevator, I headed to the man’s door.

Upon my arrival we greeted each other, and his eyes casually glanced down to my chest region.  This did not throw me off because most of my life men and womens eyes have always headed straight to my girls.  When you get boobs in the 2nd grade, you get used to this pretty quickly.  And I’m not just talking boobs, I’m talking ginormous breasts.  What can I say, it’s a curse.  We chatted for a brief second and I felt immediately he was not the type for me to hold a conversation with, so I scurried back to the elevator that brought me up and proceeded to head down.

While walking through the courtyard and gazing at the sets that were made too look like big citys, I noticed I felt a breeze in my section that was just discussed in detail above.  I looked down to find that my feisty purse, which I wear more like a satchel, had opened not one, but TWO of the buttons on my blouse.  How lovely.  This man had no interest in my breasts, but most likely was embarrassed for me and the fact I had no clue my bra and partial boob was totally in his eye line.  And everyone else I had come in contact with prior to him.  The security guard at the gate, the busy bees I passed as walking to his building, the security guard in his building…

That being said, maybe one day we shall run in to each other again and he will distinctly remember me as the girl with the wardrobe malfunction.  We will laugh and laugh about it.  He will then proceed to hire me on to his next project, because I mean, who doesn’t want to hire a gal that has occasional button issues?!  Am I right?!

This is a joke.

Anyways, happy Tuesday and I hope my embarrassing story brought a little laughter to your day :-)

LUV,
Britt

Man Build Fire… And Table

Sunday evening was full of manly things.  Jess’ boyfriend Andy built this picnic table with his own bare and manly hands.

He then built this fire, with the same bare and manly hands.

Then Alyssa joined the festivities.  We talked about girly things.

She brought Sid with her, and he went on a manly cat adventure in the bushes that would put a halt to the whole evening…

Upon his journey, he found a creature.  That creature was an opossum, who scurried out of this very bush.  Alyssa and I jumped on to the newly built table, screaming like the women we are.  Jake ran out of the house to save the day, and brought this along.

The men searched the bushes, but the opossum was not to be found.

The moral of this story is that opossum’s do exist in LA.  And so do real men.

*Please note the skirt Fred is wearing.

Hung Over in Public= Beach Day

Thanks to LAQP’s Jess and Britt’s birth, today, I am hung over. I would categorize this hang over as a stage four hang over. And yes, there are various stages. For example a stage one hang over is one that cause said hang overee to be completely functional. They can go out in public with no embarrassment, they can enjoy delicious meals, heck, they can even have a mimosa or bloody mary the next morning. A stage 10 hang over is, well, what you imagine. You wake up in a pool of bodily fluids, sometimes not your own, can’t remember what you did last night, breathing makes you dry heave, and your head is being used as a Giant’s hammer, at least it feels that way.  But today, I’m a four, I am am totally ok with that.  I’m a bit achy and  groggy, have an appetite, which is quickly gone once I turn to my buddy and she says “I feel like I’m going to puke”, ahh, stage four.

So I take my stage four ass out of bed and venture to Santa Monica for some “beach volleyball”.  While looking for parking we stumble across the Santa Monica farmers market.  Perfect, because we need food and we need food fast.

Just what a stage four needed, unfortunately Alisha was more of a stage six…but you would never have guessed!

And our “beach volleyball” day turned out to be just an eat and be merry kind of day.  And THAT is a what I call a stage 10 fun kind of day
