It’s that time of year again. The Hollywood Bowl is open and rearing its ugly traffic head! As most of you know, the commute to and from the Valley in front the Bowl can be a nightmare the night of a show. And the more popular the performer, the bigger the traffic mess. Unfortunately, Paul McCartney is the performer kicking off the spring season and traffic was atrocious last night (3/30) and will be tonight as well (3/31). Make sure to stay as far from Highland Avenue and in front of the Hollywood Bowl as you can. Unless, you are a crazy person that actually enjoys sitting in traffic for hours. Trust me folks, last year I got stuck in Neil Diamond traffic for THREE hours. It’s worth finding the alternate route! And to keep you from future headaches, always check out the Hollywood Bowl Calendar:
Also, please note there is a “special event” taking place on Hollywood Blvd. tonight and it’s closed, so that will make traffic even worse! The 10 never looked so good…
So we all love to make that special someone happy. Whether it be by foot rubs, dinner and a movie, massages, late night seduction… umm what?! Ok, yeaaaa, dinner and a movie….. So The Grove has come up with a brilliant and wallet friendly idea to make that special someone smile.
Without giving too much away, because trust me the reveal on this will be amazing I still wanted to post a little blurb about this weekend’s shoot.
As I said before, this was the 5th Craigslist MasterPiece Theater that Scratchframe shot. It takes place in a community arts class. I dressed it, so I needed to make easels. These were much easier/cheaper to make than to rent. Elliot and Gabe were generous enough to allow me to use Gabe’s super awesome little workshop in their garage. I went in there on Saturday and built 7 easels in 6 hours. It was so much fun. I hadn’t built anything in so long, it felt good to be manly again! Plus Gabe’s mini shop is too freakin’ adorable. I cranked tunes and sang along by my lonesome. Brittany and Christine stopped by to check on progress, chit chat and keep my company for a bit.
We shot at this amazing little gallery in downtown L.A.that Elliot found. It’s called R & R and the guys that work there are incredible. They’re super nice and accommodating. They seem to have some really great gallery openings, where they have DJ’s spinning and drinks. I’m hoping the QueenPins can make it to one of these events soon!
The full site isn’t up yet, but you can check them out here!
The shoot itself went really well. No major problems at all. We moved relatively fast and got some really hilarious footage. The actors were amazing and Kevin seems to be really happy with everything. I wish I could dish about some of the other things that went on but it’s too good to be spoiled!
When all was said and done, I had the Titanic theme song stuck in my head for the whole next day!
It feels really amazing to be able to be creative again. One day I’ll be able to do this all the time!
The arts classroom.
The adorable Eric Stolze with his amazing self portrait!
Showing off my Party Monster/Dinosaur! RAWWWR!(I doubled as an extra!)
The dream sequence.
That’s all folks, hope your week is off to a great start!
Jon Lajoie had the honor of meeting two of the LA Queen Pins this past Saturday night. Well….maybe it was kinda the other way around.
REGARDLESS of who met who, we still were able to hang out with Jon prior and after his performance at this years Bamboozle Festival in Anaheim.
The night consisted of a few jokes about stand ups who tell jokes. (pause) No, really, and it was actually REALLY funny. I know, I know, jokes about jokes? What?! But trust, the man is funny. Then came his songs. Oh the songs, what can I say about his musical talent. Other than IT’S AMAZE.
Well, if you don’t know, Jon first started off with comedic online videos. Give him a subject, he would make a song about it. New fad? You best believe he has created a video on it. Genius really. Below are some tid bits of Saturday’s performance.
And a crowd favorite…”Show Me Your Genitals”
Can’t show too much of his performance, you have to check him out yourself! To hear more of Jon Lajoie make sure to go to his website at

The Roost is quite possibly my favorite bar in LA right now. Located on Los Feliz Boulevard in the Atwater Village hood (right down from the equally awesome bars The Griffin and The Bigfoot Lodge) this little dive has $3 PBR’s, $4 mixed drinks, FREE popcorn, a FREE parking lot in the back, a jukebox, a dartboard, red lighting (us girls love us some red lighting. Sexy!) and is never too crowded. At least all the times I have been there it hasn’t been. This bar has no frills and that’s what my friends and I love about it. It’s a great place to go with a big group of people or even just a few. I always have a great time and leave with a good buzz and my pockets feeling like they weren’t just raped. If you’re in the area, have friends in town, or if you just want somewhere really cool and chill to go, check out The Roost! But FYI: This bar is CASH ONLY! And believe me, that is the only drawback.

I just wanted to share some of our latest LAQP news with our fans! We have all been very busy with side projects, personal projects and just life in general. You would be surprised how busy and time consuming life could be. For instance, this past week I was working on a comcast commercial and met some aweseome people. One being Zac Levi. Mmmmm Zac…. But in all honesty. I love working new gigs because it gives me the opportunity to meet all these new amazing people. I get so inspired by hearing what these people have done, are doing or are planning on doing. What can I say, creativity is a turn on. And I mean turn on in a sexual and non sexual way. I get a creativity switch turned on in my head and BOOM! Things just starting happening!
But anyways…. didn’t mean to turn this into a Talk Sex with Sue Johanson session….
So we have a lot of various projects in the works nd now we just need to find the time to do them all! So keep checking our blog frequently for new content! In the mean time feel free to check out this SMOKETASTIC web series. I worked with the producer this past week and it is HIL-A-R-IOUS. Enjoy!
Following in Britt’s footsteps I’m going to post my picks of the week!
Restaurant: I’ve got Thai on the mind! Mmm. For some reason I have been CRAVING Thai food. It could be because they’ve ordered it at work multiple times this week and I’ve been good and not indulged. But here’s two great places to grab some Thai in the Valley.
Thai Rama - I discovered this place on my birthday last year as it was right down the block from my old apartment. Now, it’s like 6 blocks away, CMON! I judge a Thai place on the deliciousness of the pad thai. Thai Rama’s is pretty great. They are also very decently priced. We frequent the Thai Rama for it’s closeness and upon recent discovery, the FREE delivery!
So check out Thai Rama if you’re around the Glendale area and craving that Thai. Added Bonus: THE cutest Asian man on the planet works there and always brightens my day!

Another Thai place that I have not tried the Pad Thai (so by my standards I am neutral) is Kinnara in Van Nuys. I recommend the Buddha Salad w/ tofu no onions. It’s really delicious. They are also really decently priced and the staff is wonderful. Kinnara also has the added benefit of ordering online, which comes in handy for the office.
So, if you’re a bit deeper into the valley and need a Thai fix, check out Kinnara.

Radio Station: I’ll admit I haven’t been rocking the AM/FM this week. I’ve been recovering from the Marathon (and trying to cope with taking running time off) by listening to my new running playlist on my iPod. What can I say? I’m a running dork. So for my radio station pick this week – if you have an iTrip and looking for a station that comes in pretty well all over the city, I would tune it to 97.3. Works like a charm!
Video: I have two video picks this week.
The first one is a gem that Brittany came home with last night. If you know me personally you know I may be a “little obsessed” with the feline species. Needless to say, I fell in love!
The second Video pick I have this week is a Funny Or Die. A number of people I know, support and love dearly worked on this. So proud of my pals! Check it out and love it too! Follow the link to view it.
Get Away From It All Spot: My job gets to me more often than not and when I have clearance to escape for an hour a day I enjoy the Sepulveda Basin. It’s a wildlife park with a lake in the middle. There’s always a chance to see some eagles and take in nature. Who thought this place would be smack dab in the middle of Van Nuys! It’s quiet and I like to take a walk around the whole lake. So not only can I get my thoughts straight I can burn some calories too!
Where You Can Find Me This Weekend/What I’m Working On: These goes hand in hand for me this week! I’m working on all 3 of the side projects I’ve mentioned down in an earlier post. Kevin’s CLMT is shooting on Sunday so I have been painting the past few days. I can honestly say I have not completed a painting or made a legit painting until my 23rd year of life! And now I’ve got 3 under my belt.
Saturday I will be building easels for Kevin’s shoot and Sunday we’ll be shooting this bad boy. Check back for an update about the shoot and hopefully some pictures.
Enjoy the amazing weather and keep it safe this weekend!
